Margaret White

Sandpiper was founded by Margaret White, education consultant, author of A Good Education and former Deputy Head Academic at St Faith's Cambridge (Winner of TES Prep School of the Year 2019). 

Margaret studied Natural Sciences and Education at Jesus College Cambridge, gaining a first class degree and her teaching qualification. Believing that schools can and should be happy places for children to learn, she enjoyed a long career in teaching. With over 25 years’ experience of teaching and school leadership, she has developed extensive material on curriculum and policy matters, publishing articles and speaking at conferences on various aspects of teaching. In 2018, Routledge published her book A Good Education, which outlines a new model of learning to enrich every child.

Now living in Bath, Margaret is currently Patron of the University of Bath Gold Scholarship Programme and a Governor of Monkton Combe School. She is an IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools) accredited consultant.  

Margaret is passionate about providing all children with the best possible education, and recognises the critical role of teachers in this work. Her hope is that as Sandpiper helps schools to develop a strong culture of care for their staff, both they and the young people they educate will flourish. 

Carol studied English and Education at Homerton College Cambridge, gaining a BEd (Hons) degree. She has over 25 years’ experience of teaching across both the private and state sectors. 

As Head of English in a London boys’ prep school, she successfully prepared pupils for 11/13+ entry into a number of leading independent schools. She is passionate about creative writing and sharing literature, seeking to instil the confidence in every child to find their inherent imaginative voice. 

Carol now lives in Bath and is delighted to be working alongside Margaret, helping to fulfil the Sandpiper mission of developing a strong culture of care for staff.
